NZDA Farmers Assist

During the year, there are hunting trips organised for our members, who hunt for Deer, Tahr, Chamois, Goats, Wallaby’s, Rabbits & Hares.

The hunting trips are an excellent way to get to know other members and maybe see some new country that you haven’t been into before. So there are trips to suit, whether you’re just starting out or you’re an experienced hunter.

Trophy hunting:

If you’re into trophy hunting, we have an annual ‘Antler, Horn and Tusk’ competition. Once a member, you can enter any of the categories of the National NZDA competitions, including photography.

HUNTS Course:

This is a nine-week course covering the following topics:
Ethics, equipment and food, travel and navigation, game animal species, firearm safety and marksmanship, hunting techniques, survival, first aid, and river crossing. The final weekend is a hunt in the Rangitata area where trainees can shoot a tahr. There’s generally a waiting list for this course and numbers are limited, so if you are interested, contact:
