TRIP SUMMARY

This trip is a helicopter fly in/fly out hunt. The helicopter will depart from HeliServices Whataroa Base off State Highway 6 near the Whataroa township. Maximum load for each flight will be 400kg.

The trip will require a moderate to high level of personal fitness combined with a moderate to high level of hunting experience. For the groups not staying at Whymper Hut, you will be required to spend two nights under canvas.

The terrain will be steep alpine terrain. Crampons and ice axes are advisable.

The hunting will be a mix of subalpine forest, alpine scrub and open tops. A moderate level of navigational skills are required.

Typical shooting distances are likely to be 200+m.

Required Gear: Minimum recommendations for every Hunt are Personal Location Beacon (PLB), GPS, Map, Compass, and a suitable form of communication. Parties will be camping. Crampons and ice axes are advisable.
